Many companies don’t really see the advantage of having a blog, they even see it as a waste of time and money. We have another point of view on this. When used correctly, a blog can be a great way to use content marketing for your company, and if you use it in the right way it gives you many advantages and can eventually provide more revenue.

Here are some reasons why we think you should use a blog as an important tool of your content marketing:

1.) It are easy to use

Setting up a blog takes little effort and technical knowledge. There are many sites that offer you easy ways to create a blog in matter of seconds (or if you need a little help – we’ll be happy to assist). You can update your content yourself, and in addition it doesn’t have to cost anything (except for some time off course).

2.) It can help you to be found online

Blogs contribute to the visibility of your website, because you can provide keywords that are relevant to your website and to your company. By making your website more relevant, search engines will be able to index your website better, in turn you will be ranked higher on for instance Google.

3.) It can be measured

As with anything you do for your company, you want to know what the effects are of all your efforts. For a blog there are many tools and statistics that can measure what its effects is. This is a big difference to many other (social) media platforms, of which it’s usually impossible to truly measure what your time, effort and money has done for the company.

4.) It contributes to your reputation

You are the one in charge of this blog and can decide what information you put online. By writing about your brand in a positive way adds to the reputation of your business. You can show people what you have been up to in your restaurant, for instance that products used are 100% organic, or that you assisted in a fund raiser. It’s an easy way to give yourself some free advertising!

5.) It integrates your brand into your content marketing

A blogs makes it easy to communicate directly with your customer, at the same time it gives you the opportunity to write in a more personal way so that your brand will be approachable. Be careful though, as you need to make sure that the personal tone in your blog is linked to the desired brand experience.

6.) It supports various types of media

For many social media platforms you can only use one type of media at a time – a photo or a video. However with a blog you can combine text, photographs, graphics, video, audio, PDF files all in one place. Just think about what you can do. There are so many ways you would be able to convert an offline event into online content when using a blog.

7.) It provides content for social media

Blogs are important for social media like Twitter and Facebook, as people will be able to share your posts with the rest of the world. Make sure that you have easy sharing settings on your blog, by which people just need to click the Facebook (or any other social media platform) icon and can instantly share the article with their friends. In this way your followers and readers will spread your word free of charge!

8.) It facilitates the distribution of content

Have a newsletter already? A blog can be a great addition to this. It will be able to go dive deeper into the topic that was already a part of your newsletter. At the same time you can use your blog to share the content of the newsletter easily.

9.) It supports various initiatives

By having a blog you are able to provide product-related content to you customers. Not only that, it will also give you the possibility of answering questions from customers, attracting new customers and even offering a platform for discussion. This can give you a great insight in who your customers are and what they expect from you.

10.) It is owned by the company

The content on your blog is owned by your company, and can be integrated in your existing website. Unlike media from third parties, you don’t have to worry whether the information will be taken off line.
