Why is content marketing important for your business?
According to research, 90% of the people feel a negative attitude towards a brand that is constantly advertising. Coupons, discounts, happy hours or simply a hard sale – they are not well received when businesses are trying to sell all the time.
The truth is that no one likes to be “told” what to buy – regardless of the product’s quality.
Over the last 50 years advertisers have interrupted people’s attention with their hard-sale advertisement; however, things have changed with social media. Today’s marketing is about attracting rather than distracting them – but how?
The ideal content marketing is to deliver valuable content, providing interesting information to captivate your audience with compelling content that can be found anywhere and everywhere in your business. For example, if you have a restaurant, the ingredients that you use, who you buy them from, the way they are cooked, who serves them – among many other things are one of the key factors. By showing your audience the ‘behind the scenes’ of your business and the ‘human’ side of it, you’ll be able to create a connection with your audience, telling the story of your business in a unique way by using photos, videos or any other material that would be worth sharing with them.
The same way the Chief Content Officer of Coca-Cola, Jonathan Mildenhall says: “If we can build an emotional connection with our customers by amazing storytelling, we will be able to trade on that“.
So, adverting vs. content marketing?, story telling vs. hard selling?… these are the key questions in marketing!
